TELES Cluster Installation Marks Milestone in freenet NGN Project
TELES, the German Next Generation Networks (NGN) telecoms solutions provider, has announced that it has reached an important milestone in freenet’s NGN migration project with the deployment of its MGC cluster technology.
The freenet NGN migration project is one of the largest of its kind in Europe today. The TELES MGC based project enables NGN in the core network and full PSTN service for freenet’s fast-growing iPhone VoIP/DSL customer base.
According to the Berlin-based network infrastructure provider, TELES.MGC is a carrier-grade scalable platform which enables network operators to migrate to next generation networks. The company intends to present the innovative freenet-implemented NGN solution technology at this year’s CeBIT event (Hall 13, Booth D87). TELES board member Jan Bastian said:
”We at TELES are very proud to have been selected by freenet to implement a seamless NGN solution based on our carrier grade network migration offering. This is one of the first implementations of this scale in Europe, and we are delighted to have been able to create an NGN migration solution for such a major player in the German ISP and telecoms market.”
The freenet installation has allowed TELES to comprehensively demonstrate the solution’s capabilities. The high degree of interoperability and protocol support available allow it to fulfil a number of diverse NGN scenarios in multi-vendor environments. For this reason, TELES believe that it is the solution of choice for those operators either seeking to build a new network, replace a common TDM backbone with NGN components or interconnect with different carriers.
Speaking about freenet’s decision to choose the TELES.MGC Cluster solution, Stephan Esch, CTO of freenet.de AG said, “The highly ambitious nature of the project meant that we required an infrastructure solutions provider with a proven track record and experience in providing leading edge NGN solutions. In TELES we found not only a partner with a shared commitment to technical innovation and communications excellence, but a world class provider of best-in-breed NGN infrastructure solutions.”
As well as a number of different European NGN implementations, TELES has already formed a number of strategic partnerships to bring TELES NGN-based solutions to market in 2007. With more than 160 carrier network customers and millions of voice ports deployed worldwide, TELES has been at the forefront of telecoms solutions development and innovation for over two decades.
