backTELES: First Ruling in Favor of Its VoIP-Patents
This information is released in accordance with § 13 section 1 and § 15 section 1 of the German Investor Protection Improvement Act (AnSVG).
TELES just received the confirmation that the Landgericht Mannheim has approved its claim against the Quintum Technologies Inc. because of its Tenor switch violating the European TELES VoIP patent EP 0 929 884. This is the first ruling in favor of TELES in a series of respective VoIP patent violation cases filed by it (see www.teles.de).
In addition, TELES just has confirmed that the VoIP-box by AVM has been upgraded by an automatic "ISDN fallback"-function, recently, thus obviously meeting the requirements of the general market development. Earlier, that box was attacked already by TELES due to the same reason, but had no automatic "PSTN/ISDN fallback"-function at that time and was, in its then version, considered by the Landgericht Mannheim as not infringing the TELES patents. As a consequence of this upgrade, TELES shall attack that new version by the same reason.
TELES is convinced of the stability of this legal ruling situation and intends, therefore, to file further claims against VoIP products with a "PSTN/ISDN fallback"-function as soon as these functions are verified in them by TELES tests.
