TELES gives up plans for a DVB-T-based

In an Ad-hoc Announcement on 16 December 2004 TELES AG disclosed the substantiation of its plans for a DVB-T-based "Berlin Brandenburg Super HotSpot" project. Some of the features of this hot spot are discussed in the same announcement, which can be accessed at www.teles.de

With the political environment for broadband Internet services based on the mobile DVD-T technology still completely unsettled for Berlin and Brandenburg, and indeed for the other German Länder, the board of TELES has with regret had to resolve the discontinuation of planning and project development for the introduction of its Super HotSpot project. The total disinterest of the policy-makers in this extremely forward-looking field in the economic development of a region is in itself completely incomprehensible.

Medium-sized enterprises such as TELES cannot engage in the type of never-ending games which the custodians of media legislation in Germany seem to consider normal, and which is further complicated by the federal system. Seven-figure investments cannot be made in the face of such hazards. Whether the new German government will be able to find any solutions to the economic obstacles set by the well-known, many-headed Hydra of over-regulation remains to be seen.
