New Products: ECOTEL Gateways added to TELES product portfolio

Even wider range of gateway solutions now available to TELES customers

At the beginning of 2010, the analog GSM gateway Ecotel GSM and the digital GSM gateway Ecotel ISDN were taken over from Vierling and added to the TELES Access Gateway product line. The two new gateways will now offer TELES customers additional solution and functionality options.

The two new gateways are:

ECOTEL® ISDN GSM
ECOTEL® ISDN GSM gateways cover a variety of mobile and stationary applications: scenarios without ISDN access as well as the connection of complete PBXs with various office-applications (PC, fax, PPP, ISDN phones etc.). The ECOTEL® ISDN GSM gateway always offers a cost-effective and high quality connection to GSM networks.

ECOTEL® ISDN establishes direct, reliable and low cost connections between ISDN fixed networks and GSM mobile networks (900/1800/1900 MHz).
The GSM gateway (Fixed Cellular Terminal, FCT, Fixed Wireless Terminal, SIM-Box) serves as basis for a broad range of customer-specific applications.

GSM gateways of the type Ecotel ISDN make extension functions of the PBX available on company mobile phones. If the employee mobile phones are connected to the telecommunication system via a GSM gateway, the features of switching between calls and announced call transfer are available from the mobile phone. With the mobile integration functions of the TELES ECOTEL GSM gateways, employees are easier to reach and have greater mobility.

ECOTEL® GSM3-3x analog GSM gateway
The ECOTEL® GSM3-3x analog GSM gateway allows you to connect either a PBX or your individual analog telephones to GSM mobile radio networks (850/1800/1800/1900). The gateway is equipped with analog interfaces, a SIM card slot and a plug-in antenna and can handle a wide range of applications.

Once the ECOTEL® GSM3-3x gateway is connected to an analog extension or external PBX port, it takes calls that are normally routed from the fixed network to mobile radio networks and replaces them with more cost-effective "in-network" mobile-to-mobile calls.
This can cut your telephone expenses by up to 70%. The gateway usually pays for itself in less than six months.

ECOTEL® GSM3-3x allows you to connect mobile or remotely situated equipment to the global communications infrastructure via mobile radio. This means you can access telephone, fax and Internet service from construction sites, weekend homes and business vehicles, to name a few examples.

Innovation: TELES Green PBX

Preserving the environment and helping you to reduce costs

TELES has integrated an Asterisk-based PBX into its family of VoIPBOX gateways to provide enterprises with a compact, fully featured, cost-saving, energy efficient, and environmentally friendly solution that is easy to install and simple to use.

Customers will benefit from the functionality of a gateway and PBX rolled into one that consumes a lot less power and space than a legacy PBX, whilst delivering TELES quality and know-how for greatly improved performance and functionality

Environment-friendly

Reduce your company’s impact on the environment and save more than 90% of energy consumption costs; especially on standby power costs. The TELES Green PBX has no special cooling requirements and because the PBX and gateway are combined in a single box, space and storage requirements are also minimal, with convenient installation possible anywhere in an office environment. In addition, the TELES Green PBX is not an environmental time-bomb for the future as all components and materials are eco-friendly and 100% recyclable and fully compliant with ROHS and WEEE directives.

Enhanced features

Innovation: TELES Green PBX
The TELES Green PBX comes with all the features that you would expect on a legacy PBX plus a whole lot more to ensure that your company’s telephony is as effective and productive as possible. Features onboard include:

Reduced OPEX and CAPEX

The integration of a PBX into the TELES VoIPBOX range contributes to major CAPEX reductions. OPEX savings are achieved thanks to lower maintenance costs, savings on energy consumption, and reduced space requirements.

PBX integration into TELES VoIPBOX range

TELES VoIPBOX technology enables complete and flexible scalability. Additional functionality can be leveraged from combinations of the PBX with TELES VoIPBOX variants. For example, the VoIPBOX GSM with integrated PBX enables customers to benefit from additional cost reductions by converting expensive landline-to-mobile calls into more cost effective mobile-to-mobile calls.

Asterisk-based open source PBX software

Based on the unique open source Asterisk PBX software, the TELES Green PBX is easy to operate and maintain and is interoperable with a huge number of devices and numerous protocols including SIP, IAX, and T1.

The low-maintenance TELES Green PBX will come supplied with full service and support available to customers. To learn more about the product visit www.telesgreenpbx.com

Technology 1: TELES Captura Wholesale Trading Platform (WTP)

TELES Captura WTP (Wholesale Trading Platform) makes life easier for wholesale operators with LCR, customer prepaid control, and a CDR rating system. The platform provides operators with an application for managing wholesale business traffic on both a supplier and customer side.

In essence, the Captura WTP is a software suite that enables telecom companies to manage their interconnect business. The following tools are available:
  • Import and evaluate supplier price lists
  • Generate Least Cost and/or Quality Cost Routing proposals together with the TELES C4 SSW
  • Generate price lists based on pricing and routing
  • Control traffic and quality parameters
  • Evaluate CDRs with the rating system
  • Prepaid control for wholesale
  • Manage bilateral and volume commitments
  • Billing
TELES Captura WTP is ideally suited to operators buying and selling minutes, even on a scale of 100,000+ minutes packages, and provides a portfolio of tools for the efficient management of supplier and customer costs and billing. More importantly, the operator is able to get a complete overview of prices and costs thanks to detailed reports. This means that time traders can see instantly if what they are doing is profitable and commercially viable.

The application can be utilized to import and evaluate supplier lists, allowing operators to maintain a much clearer overview of prices and price fluctuation, in addition to generating least cost routing (LCR) data, or, where appropriate, quality cost routing proposals with no limit to the number of routings or services which can be tracked. Command files can also be generated for each switch based on the routing – enabling the operator to control the quality parameters and routing of customer traffic. To summarize, TELES Captura WTP increases business profitability by achieving higher margins on the minutes sold, and by not over-paying for minutes bought.

Call Detail Records (CDR) can be rated and evaluated to support operator efforts to oversee and ensure profitability. Supplier invoices are automatically cross-checked to confirm that they comply with quoted prices, whilst customer billing and reconciliation is also handled by the TELES Captura WTP.

Pre-paid functionality allows for error-free management of pre-paid customers, whilst bilateral and volume commitments can also be managed. The Captura WTP provides complete LCR and billing functionality and will be a real asset to operators seeking to optimize their finances.

TELES AFRICA: Strengthening ties with Du Pont

TELES AFRICA
TELES has strengthened its ties with Johannesburg’s voice-based telecommunications solutions company Du Pont Telecoms, with Du Pont establishing a new division under the brand name TELES Africa.

TELES Africa will provide full customer support and supply the complete TELES product range of mobile and VoIP gateways and Class 4 and Class 5 next generation network solutions throughout Southern Africa with potential for expanding in the future into the Eastern, Central, and Western regions of the continent.

Du Pont CEO Graeme Victor says the decision to establish the new division under the brand TELES Africa, and expand to a premium partnership in December 2009, follows the company’s signing of a distribution agreement with TELES in 2008 for TELES access gateway enterprise products and solutions.

“With the establishment of the brand TELES Africa, the TELES VoIP Gateways and Class 5 IP Centrex solutions will now be made available directly to African carriers and network service providers as well,” he explains.

Richard Fahringer the COO of TELES AG has welcomed the company’s closer ties with Du Pont and the establishment of the brand TELES Africa. “Over the past year, Du Pont has successfully repositioned TELES as a premium brand in the region, particularly in the enterprise space. With the rapid adoption of VoIP technology, the time is now right for TELES penetration into the local and African market to be expanded. With its strong local service presence, knowledge of the market, and familiarity with key regional customers, Du Pont is well placed to drive this.” he concludes.
